Rabat Mayor Elected Metropolis President
On Wednesday 19 February, Metropolis convened its first Board of Directors meeting in 2025, unanimously electing Rabat Mayor Fatiha El Moudni as its new President. The Board paid tribute to outgoing president Mr. Barthélémy Dias, applauding his innovative and dynamic leadership. Mayor El Moudni expressed gratitude, highlighting the importance of maintaining African leadership within the organization.
As Metropolis reaches the midpoint of its mandate, its mission remains steadfast. This year, the association will celebrate its 40th Anniversary Congress, reflecting on past achievements and addressing future challenges. Committed to its goals, Metropolis aims to promote equity and resilience for communities worldwide, marking a year of strengthened global partnerships and impactful collaboration among member cities.

Shiraz joined the World Association of major Metropolises in 2007 and has been a member of board of directors since 2021.
