Mayor Eskandarpour congrats Shiraz Day
Eskandarpour, Shiraz Mayor, extended his congratulations on the occasion of Shiraz Day (May 4, 2020) to the citizens and Shiraz lovers. His message reads:
"As we reach the early May, Shiraz enhances its beauty and dignity. Shiraz, also being called the Land of Solomon, has left its trace in the very verses of the great literary elites. May 4th is the day, which marks the day of this heavenly land, Hafiz, Saadi, the seven-color tiles of the Nasirolmulk mosque, Cypress trees of Eram Garden and the dome of Shah-e-Cheragh (pbuh). Shiraz is not a mere city but a global one that is as old as the Time and the pioneer of culture, literature and art.
The land of Shiraz, the ornamented silk-like fabrics, has been home to litterateurs, poets, scholars and philosophers who have woven the grandeur of history of this major city with art, magnanimity, and knowledge-seeking. Today, we are the heirs to this great treasure, which we have stood inherited from the past generations and ups-and-downs. It is our responsibility to pass it to the next generations through showing foresight, being thoughtfulness, employing the comments by the dedicated experts.
This year, the atmosphere of Shiraz Day and Shiraz Week is affected by the Coronavirus pandemics. So, we join the chorus of Saadi, the eloquent poet, to wish Shiraz and its people health. I would like to refer to the introductory part of his masterpiece, Gulestan, and wish ‘the almighty God may keep the rich land of Shiraz safe and healthy to the end of Time thanks to the impartial governors and distinguished scholars committing the deeds. "
