Mayor’s Message on Shiraz Day
In the Name of the Lord, the Creator of the soul
From the beautiful and historical City of Shiraz, I would like to extend my sincere greetings to my colleagues and their fellow citizens in our friendship and sister-cities, presidents and secretaries-general of our partner international organizations and all those promoting peace and compassion around the world. For centuries, Shiraz has been the cradle of the Iranian civilization and its rightful representative on promoting culture and art.
The name of Shiraz has been long associated with compassion and kindness. which is best portrayed in the co-existence of monotheistic religions in the Adyan Alley (the Alley of religions) and its ethnic diversity.
Shirazi cultural and literary elites such as Hafiz and Saadi have been the symbols of peace and tolerance, ideas which can still be traced in the lives and beliefs of its people.
Beauty has been flowing throughout its history and the lives of its people are interwoven with colorful gardens.
The heavenly like Eram Garden, tile-works of the Pink Mosque, arabesques of the Morvarid Porch of the Vakil Mosque, the fantastic dome of Saadi mausoleum, glorious architecture of Hafiz mausoleum and turquoise dome of Shah-e-Cheragh holy shrine are all narrating the spirit of life and spirituality in our city.
Shiraz is an exciting sonnet of an Iranian Divan, in which each verse portrays the Iranian thoughts, culture and philanthropy.
The Day of Shiraz is a good opportunity to extend the message of friendship and kindness to the whole world, and to hope all the world inhabitants recover from the pandemic so that we will be, once more, able to receive tourists in our gardens and cultural and historical attractions during the heavenly Ordibehesht of Shiraz.
