Mayor Asadi wrote a letter to Chen Zhiachang, his Chinese counterpart in Nanjing to express his condolences over the deadly fire incident which occurred in a residential building, killing 15 and leaving dozens more injured.
Part of the message reads. On behalf of the people of Shiraz as well as my own, I would like to offer my heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathy to you and the esteemed citizens of Nanjing. In these moments of overwhelming sadness and grief our thoughts and prayers are with the people of our sister city. Praying for those who perished, we wish their relatives peace and patience, and a speedy recovery for the wounded".
